Lakes & Fish

The lakes are situated on a limestone, clay ridge thus creating an abundantly rich environment for both fish and aquatic life. The lakes are teaming with dragon fly nymphs, damsel fly, shrimps, snails, swan mussels, daphnia and blood worm.

We have been recording weight gains of some fish in excess of 11lbs in 10 months, which is based on a natural food only diet.

There is also a huge array of plants, wildflowers and trees around the lakes and with only 5 pegs on the 7 acre lake, we believe this is some of the best fishing and surroundings to be found in France.

We have chosen to keep the number of anglers to a minimum to enhance your fishing time, plenty of room for each angler and to reduce the pressure on the fish. Fishing is from one back which eliminates crossing lines with other anglers and providing lots of marginal areas on both the near and  far banks to bait up those little 'hot spots'.

The lake map is not to scale, there is approximately 70 yards between pegs, with around 100 yards between pegs 3 and 4. Peg 1 is the deeper end of the lake with plenty of overhanging bushes on the far bank and deep "close in" margins. Peg 2 has lots of "close in" margin spots with a thick line of bull rushes on the far bank, and a small patch of lillies to the right hand side of the swim. Peg 3 has the whole of the right hand margin plus open water area to fish. Peg 4 is a large double swim with lots of open water and a long cast to the far over hanging trees. Peg 5 is the most secluded swim, tucked out the way down the shallow end of the lakes.There are lots of rushes and overhanging trees around the lakes which are all constant fish producing areas. The lake bed consists of a hard clay base with numerous pockets of 3 inch soft clay, this makes for easy bait presentation.

One of the biggest problems facing anglers in France is nuisance 'Poisson Chat' and crayfish, we have no Poisson Chat present in either lakes and very small numbers of Crayfish, which makes for more enjoyable fishing and no need to 'net' hookbaits or use complicated rigs.

The 7 Acre lake contains mirrors over 51lb+ and commons over 44lb+ and with a head of 200 fish the fishing for 2008 will be awesome.
